Engagement To Cheryl Cheryl Series Book 1 edition by Jonathan Quincy Graves Literature Fiction eBooks

John Franklyn is a naive young man of 22 years old, who returns home from the Army and meets the love of his life, Cheryl Walker a legal assistant and niece of a long time family friend. While John is completely inexperienced with women, Cheryl clearly is not naïve when it comes to men; and she has very particular ideas of what she wants in a mate. Through the introduction of John to mind blowing sex, strict discipline (bare bottomed, over the knee spanking) and forced chastity, Cheryl shapes John into the respectful, obedient man that she desires. Along the way, Cheryl’s mother, Harriet, makes her contribution with hand and strap, as do John’s young neighbors, Mandy and Sue who are assigned as babysitters while John is away to college. Ultimately, John must decide whether life with the beautiful but strict Cheryl is really the life that he wants to live.

I bought this ebook after reading "Daughter-in-Law" by the same author. I enjoyed it for the same reason I enjoyed the other book: there is lots of harsh over-the-knee discipline at the hands of strict, bossy women. If I had to recommend one or the other, I would recommend "Daughter-in-Law". That's why I gave it five stars and this one four. Part of the thrill of femdom domestic discipline for me is the humiliation factor, and the humiliation of an older man being taken in hand by his son's wife, who is half his age, in "Daughter-in-Law" is exquisite. In "Engagement to Cheryl" the male protagonist is John, a shy, sexually inexperienced 22-year-old who is taken in hand by Cheryl, a woman his own age who is his superior in every way. John feels that he has had unbelievable luck to be initiated into sex by a woman who is way out of his league, so he accepts the condition she puts on their engagement: that she will wear the pants in the relationship.
Cheryl's way of wearing the pants involves total control of John's life, intimate and otherwise, backed up with lots of harsh, humiliating corporal punishment, as well as strict regimen of chastity. I find that the cover picture doesn't really match the image of Cheryl's style of femdom in the book. On the cover, she looks like a professional dominatrix, but the story is really about "domestic discipline" rather than whip-and-chains style BDSM. That domestic aspect appeals to me in both this book and "Daughter-in-Law."
Having read two of Graves' books now, I notice that in both the male protagonists are curiously isolated from other men. The only other men in the lives of these guys (the son in "Daughter-in-Law" and the future father-in-law in "Engagement to Cheryl) are only briefly glimpsed, and we see that they are subject to the same domestic discipline. This creates the impression that men exist in a world circumscribed by an all-encompassing feminine authority. It is world in which only women become fully adult, so the paddle, strap, and hairbrush are essential tools in the never-ending "education" of the male. The men have a vague awareness that they should perhaps rebel against the feminine power that reduces them to the status of naughty boys, but ultimately they surrender to women because the subservient state the women impose on them is matched by an inner need.
The most fanciful aspect of these stories is that the men are subject to authority of not one woman, but a willing community of women. Whereas the men are isolated from other men, the women form a community of disciplinarians. Being bared for punishment by his partner is, of course, an intensely sexual form of humiliation for a man, but the men in Graves’ female supremacist world are also punished by women with whom they have no sexual relationship, including near-strangers appointed by their partners, daughters-in-law, mothers-in-law, adult sisters, and even adult daughters. Having to strip for punishment in the presence of fully clothed women who have no sexual interest in their nakedness effectively strips the men of their status as sexual adults. Their domesticated masculinity becomes a source of amusement for women.
Needless to say, this female supremacist world is pure fantasy because in the real world, women have no interest in infantilizing men that way. But novels don’t have to be realistic to be believable. As a male submissive, I found it easy to suspend my disbelief in female supremacy; therefore, the novels were, for me, believable on their own terms. To me they felt real, and that is the key to effective erotic fiction.
The detailed narrations of the spankings seemed especially real to me. Although I have never been spanked as harshly as the men in these novels, Graves’ descriptions of the pain and humiliation of a severe spanking, and the desperate desire of the recipient for it to end, ring true. He has described an experience I both crave and fear.
In conclusion, I recommend both “Daughter-in-Law” and “Engagement to Cheryl” in that order. Although I preferred “Daughter-in-Law”, I like “Engagement to Cheryl” enough that I have already purchased the sequel, “Marriage to Cheryl: raising a husband to the paddle,” and I can’t wait to read it.

Engagement To Cheryl Cheryl Series Book 1 edition by Jonathan Quincy Graves Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
If you are looking for erotica like this, I am guessing that you want to be led. This author really pulls you in and puts you over their knees and gives you a firm seeing to.
A naive, inexperienced young man meets the love of his life, and discovers that there is much more to this beautiful young lady than he had ever imagined. Cheryl has very specific standards of conduct and achievement for her intended, and she is more than willing to take direct action to see that they are met. John is pulled ever deeper into her web of loving discipline and control, as he is introduced to the joys of the female body, along with the price in the form of strict corporal punishment and enforced chastity that she exacts. No doubt about it, she does love to spank the boy.
The down side is that this is a short book (typical for this genre), and easily read in an evening. The upside is that JQ Graves is a surprisingly able writer who develops very believable characters and situations (very untypical for this genre). The intensity builds logically without flirting with the extreme, or the unbelievable, and leaving John with the question is this role of submission to Cheryl's dominance what he really wants in his life.
I highly recommend Engagement to Cheryl for readers who enjoy books with strong female characters, and men willing to learn to serve them. And oh yes, plenty of female/male spanking.
Lovely tale of a guy who meets an 'in-charge' kind of woman who doesn't hesitate to take her guy over her knee for a good, hard spanking. Just the way it should be!
Talk about control! Cheryl really knew how to pick and bend him to her standards. There is an erotic aspect to this story, but it was very scary to boot. Sometimes reality can really bite you.
